The soak-and-tie method is so simple that even my distracted dog stands still for it, and the fabric stays damp for a solid couple of miles on a hot afternoon. It's become a non-negotiable part of our gear bag now, and the summit selfie bonus is real.

My pup actually poses for the summit selfie now instead of panting through it, and the soak-and-tie trick really does bring their temperature down noticeably on a hot climb. The fabric holds water long enough for a solid hour of trail time before needing a re-dunk.

Soaked it for a minute before an afternoon walk and the cooling effect on her neck really did last the whole loop. It also made for a cute summit selfie moment when she shook her head with it on.
