Went straight from the car to the trail with my pup's bandana already soaked, and she was noticeably less panty during our steep climb up to the summit. The cooling effect held up for a good couple of hours, making those obligatory summit selfies way more enjoyable for both of us.
The soaking process is quick and the bandana fits snug without choking her, so she keeps it on for the whole summit push. It actually brought her body temp down noticeably on the hot switchback section, and the selfie we got with it on is a keeper.
